AFTERMATH - AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Award Winner

After initial research into the Liberation Kilt Company and the progressive social issue of human trafficking, we noticed that a lot of people are unaware of how serious and common this issue is. More so, even less people know about the aftermath and psychological damage left on victims, and the struggles of moving past a life of slavery and reintegrating back into society. Project Aftermath will highlight and communicate the mental health issues that consume peoples lives, continuing to trap them in a series of traumas that persist long after a victim of human trafficking is physically free from their captor.

This project was collaboration between myself, Molly Brown, Hollie Seatory, Charles Mead, Rebecca Astle and Poppy Footer. For Aftermath, I designed and created a hand dyed and hand woven tartan scarf that represents light and hope through a terrifying and uncertain time during a victims life, with a means to connect and educate people on the matter.
